To left is the before pic of plaque that was painted to better compliment client's new home.
At times we are so busy it's nice to find help with one of your projects. Certainly enjoy taking some stress out of your life if possible. To right are the plaques after application of enamel and Amy Howard One Step paint in ATELIER and accents of BLACK.
Side table and coffee/sofa table are solid oak. Finished as client requested. Amy Howard One Step paint in SELZNICK grey. Gilded accent knobs with gold leaf followed with application of light wax over entire table. Dark wax applied to table legs to give added definition to the tables detail. Generally like using the waxes to tables as the wax cures the paint in approximately 90 days. Once cured you won't get water rings from wet glass or bottle placed on the table.
Slipper chair was a find by client you loves detail and is transforming her space from Victorian to French Country. Lovely chair now that it has been painted and reupholstered. Local upholstery shop wanted to buy the chair from my client! Notice the detail in the carvings which light/dark waxes brought out and Dust of Ages enhanced. The color is Amy Howard One Step paint in BAUHAUS BUFF.
Enjoy visiting with customers and hearing comments of how they are "inspired" when they walk around the store. I've always enjoyed working with different mediums, from oils to acrylics, and now lacquers, powder paint and the ever so easy One Step Paint! ~ The Amy Howard At Home line of paint products.
The nightstand above is painted with One Step~LIME LIME. No wax was applied, as I wanted that flat smooth chalk like appearance. With One Step paint you do not have to seal with wax. I like to think about how and where the piece might be used. This will help determine if wax needs to be applied. A tabletop, once waxed will cure in 90 days and no water rings will mare your beautiful finish.
One Step paint does not refer to ONE COAT, which seems to be an easy misconception for some. The ONE STEP required before painting is to CLEAN your piece of furniture. After cleaning with Simple Green or other household (non-concentrated) cleaner, you are ready to begin painting. One Step paint requires NO SANDING or STRIPPING. If you plan to paint over mahogany or walnut, you might want to apply a coat of primer before applying the paint to avoid bleed through, which may then require more than two coats of paint. One Step dries quickly, 30 - 40 minutes. Once dry you can apply your second coat of paint immediately. Recommend using a clean brush for each coat. Wash brushes out with soap and water.
One Step paint is all natural, no methanol, low VOCs. A recent customer stated, "I painted right in my dining room," simply because there is no odor.
My one word of caution. Once you try the One Step paint it can become 'addicting.' "Now I'm looking around my house for something else to paint!" Comments of a satisfied customer.
I had a dream...enjoy working with people and thought it would be wonderful to open a store for enjoyment, fellowship and to offer inspirations. My dream came to fruition when I walked into INMAN FRAMING, 5625 Vogel Rd. Evansville, IN to have a chalk drawing of Don Mattingly framed. This photographwas purchased, not because I follow Don Mattingly, although he is from Evansville, IN, BUTbecause it was purchased as a donation to GRK (Green River Kiwanis) Santa Clothes Auction. During my conversation with Mr. Inman I shared my desire to open a store and he mentioned the space next to his frame shop was open, he had the key and could show me the space. The space was exactly what I was looking for...size, location, great neighbors, etc. That same evening while dining at CHINA BISTRO, directly across the street from the store front, my fortune cookie reads: You are heading in the right direction. He speaks to us in many ways and I knew for certain that I wanted His guidance and so the process has begun.....
